Scoring. A win is worth 1 and a loss 0, minus the chance a #12-rated team would have won the same game. Beating a weak team earns little; losing to one costs nearly a full win.

Opponents are rated as of now, so a win gains value if the team beaten keeps winning.

Why #12? Tested against every CFP committee ranking from 2024 and 2025, it came closest, about three places off on average. Arrows show places moved since week 6; the number after the record is the team’s rating.
